Immaculate condition, with a very minor crinkle on the edge of the label (top, middle right as per picture). One previous owner, held at 14*C since purchase from Penfolds. Was looked over, topped up and recorded at the 2010 Penfolds re-corking clinic in Sydney. After the 1955, this is the second most successful Grange in Australian wine shows with four trophies and 20 gold, 10 silver and three bronze medals. This vintage Grange is becoming increasingly rare. Bottles with good levels and appearance are invariably drinking well.Peak Drinking: 2018

Deep brick red. Vintage Grange with beautifully mature and fragrant chocolate/mocha/menthol/leather/cedar aromas.Mouth-filling, rich and exuberant wine with fresh, sweet mocha/demi-glace/ripe sweet-fruit flavours, underlying cedar/vanillin notes and fine-grained, chocolaty tannins. Finishes chalky firm and superbly long. Astonishingly still in its prime. A wonderful wine.

Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
