The Altera Terra shiraz 21 is a blend of Shiraz from McLaren Vale (utilising the parcel west of the township) and Murrumbateman, with a small percentage of Pinot Noir from the Macedon Ranges. Made in a style that is lifted and floral, the added lift coming from a small percentage of whole bunch pinot from Macedon. A pretty, floral and faintly confectionary aroma of red berries, dark plums and gentle cedary oak precedes a smooth, juicy and sweetly fruited palate of pleasing length, drive and character. Ready to enjoy, it steadily reveals more dark fruit and texture, finishing with lingering notes of red apple and raspberry. (Jeremy Oliver)

Medium purple with a glow of red and a beautifully layered nose of brambly berries, blackcurrant, licorice, black pepper, Dorrigo pepper and salami. In the mouth it bursts with sweet blackcurrant gums, raspberry, purple fruits, black olive, licorice, chocolate and plum and is driven on a bright mineral streak of acidity that sharpens the fruit in a great way. Feathery, fleshy tannins appear in the midpalate and offer a good chew of tension and crunch. It’s generously medium bodied and incredibly smashable…this is a shiraz that makes you smile!
Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
