In case it wasn’t obvious from the name of the wine, the vines for Hobbs’s 2017 1905 Shiraz were planted 115 years ago. Matured for two years in new French oak, the fruit is concentrated enough to easily absorb the oak.

Very expressive palate with pure smooth blackberry, raspberry fruits, fine velvety tannins and superbly integrated marzipan, mocha oak. Finishes chocolatey and sweet fruited with a spice aniseed kick. A classical Barossa vintage with lovely fruit definition, volume and persistency. 100% new French oak puncheons.
Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
