A cool long ripening season brought intense ripe fruit. The 2021 shows generous fruit with integrated fine savoury tannin and the balance we seek. The usual suspects of some delicate rose petal, fennel and black tea character are present with a long palate. Already approachable now responding to some air but will live happily for many years if cellared appropriately.

Deep ruby with a fine and detailed nose of dried rose, lemon rind, punchy zesty red berries, red cherry, dried mint, bay, hints of clove and some roasted fig leaf. There’s a mineral edge to this that is captivating. In the mouth it is clean, finely layered and super tense with a firm structure that shows just like an old world Nebbiolo! Think Langhe, not Australia. Fruit forward, ripe but fresh with complex flavours of cherry, strawberry, red currant, fig leaf, licorice, lemon pith, sage and hints of dried orange rind. Muscular black tea tannins grip and dry, giving incredible texture and tension. Great intensity, clarity and focus, with a journey ahead of it. I can't wait to see this evolve in the years to come.An delicious expression of Australian Nebbiolo.

Often referred to as the king of red grapes, Nebbiolo is responsible for some of the greatest wines in the world. The regions of Barbaresco and Barolo, in Piedmont, Italy, create the most revered expressions of the variety and have set the benchmarks for the world over. Nebbiolo is quite light in colour, dry and delicate but packs a punch in aroma and flavour with notes of rose, tar, cherry, red berries, blood orange, licorice, leather, terracotta and earthy herbals. These wines have high acidity and high tannins, making them extremely age worthy that deepen in complexity over decades. Simply stunning wines!
