Clear ruby with a bloody core and a complex nose of lifted aromatics and fine detail. It’s floral, spicy and fruity with red and purple berries, hints of beetroot, citrus zest, beef jus, Rooibos tea, pepper and savoury, slightly vegetal undergrowth. Ripe stems in-play! In the mouth it’s almost Pinot-esque in weight, broad and juicy with a core of ripe sweet fruit that expresses with freshness and good natural acidity. Secondary vegetal characters, aniseed and delicate spice show towards the midpalate, followed by fine feathery tannins and an interesting lick of minerality that holds through to the tail. It’s balanced, light on its feet and charming.
Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
