2021 was a mild growing season with just enough sunshine - you could be excused for calling it classic which is ideal, as that’s also the genre of Rosé we make and best suited to Australian summers. The fruit comes from various cool sites, which allows the fruit to ripen gradually while retaining vital natural acidity and the refreshing crunch that makes a good Rosé so special.Comprised of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet and 15% Shiraz, and all picked by hand before gently crushing and pressing. We fermented it in stainless steel tanks for pure, unadulterated red fruit expression and freshness. Regular lees stirring built an important (and food accompanying) savoury edge, as well as building texture while rounding out the palate and adding a silky, bright creamy mouthfeel. We fermented it in stainless steel tanks for essential freshness and to accentuate its attractive aromas. We stirred the lees regularly to give the wine a soft texture and to add creamy complexity.

In true Provence fashion, its pale copper with scents of cherry blossom, and ripe red berries. The berry spectrum continues on the palate, but think ripe, plum, juicy berries; add to that some stone fruit and its almost like a Peach Melba in a glass - plenty of freshness and poise but with weight, body and creaminess. As bright as the light over the Mediterranean, with a long dry, crisp finish.

Salmon bronze in the glass with quite a complex nose of dandelion, white strawberry, rockmelon, tangerine, guava, cape gooseberry, peaches and cream, deepened by salty bacon, smoking cherry wood and pecan. In the mouth it’s juicy and fulsome, but dry with a delicious roll of red berries, peach, nectarine, rhubarb and cherry, kept fresh and gifted inertia by a focused beam of stonefruit acidity. It’s silky, unctuous and incredibly elegant, holding with confidence and ends, eventually, with a touch of cream and toast. I reckon this is Australia’s best rosé!
