About the wine

Tasting notes

Earlier picking of the grapes gives a much tighter, acid driven and ever so slightly herbaceous expression of Barossan shiraz, but make no mistake, there is an intense core of fruit and it packs a punch!

Expert review

A complex, deep and slightly herbaceous nose of pretty florals, dark fruits, plum, cascara, sweet spice and a touch of leafiness. In the mouth it's powerful but tightly bound and pierces with intensity of fruit, firm sinewy tannins and zingy acidity. There's a deepness of dark fruits that you expect from the Hoffmann vines, but it's been reined back and shows citrus zest and dry, savoury tea-like notes that are interesting. I'd love to see this is a decade!

Wine Worth Writing About

The Grape

Shiraz or Syrah

Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
