Second wine of the highly regarded Chateau Canon. The grapes for this wine are specificallly from a 11 hectare site, formerly Chateau Matras Grand Cru Classé and sandwiched between Chateau Canon and Chateau Angelus, made up of alluvium and erosion of the limestone plateau. No berry from the Canon terroir was downgraded to enter the composition of Croix Canon, it’s it’s own terrior.Vinified using the same techniques as the 1st wine however the wine is made at La Chapelle de Mazerat, a 12th century building constructed at the request of Alienor d’Aquitaine right in the heart of these vineyards, renovated in 2015.76% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc. Separate vinification by parcel in conical shaped stainless steel vats. 18 months aging in barrel, 25% new.
