One of the first wines we ever made at Lethbridge was our ‘Old Vine Malbec’. This was back in 2001 with fruit from Ken Campbells vineyard in Mount Dunned. The following year he pulled out the vines. I don’t know if he was trying to tell us something, but we still have people asking us if make this wine. We have dabbled with Malbec over the years and we love exploring Argentinean wines. But if you know anything about Lethbridge, you know we like to push boundaries and experiment, so this wine is our Argentinean style blend of Malbec and Merlot, La Mezcla.

Malbec is a red grape variety with its origins in France and is used to make Argentina's most successful red wine. It's a full-bodied, punchy red that pairs so well with red meats and is defined by its bold fruit flavours of plum, cherry, blackberry and prune, deepened by notes of chocolate, tobacco and coffee. If you like your Shiraz and Merlot, you're going to love Malbec!
